about

In 2014 and 2015 a lot of humans and animals died that I was very close to. This song was written in 2015 after a tour to Mozambique - I was jamming bass in Ann Jangl at the time and we were on tour with Crimson House, and 7th Sun, on the way up to play STRAB, stopping in Jozi and Pretoria on the way. The tour was great. But as we crossed over the border from Mozambique to South Africa we all got the news that South African ska punk legend George Bacon had died. He had been a role model to all of us. And the bus mourned. That year was tough, so I wrote this song for my fallen homies.. Shifty, Grampa, Chimpie, Mishca, George..and all the rest of you I hold memories of.

lyrics

This is a song for my fallen homies
Let's drink and dance
No need to be lonely
We got each other gonna be okay
But let's drink to our fallen homies today
Got on a bus Sunday well before noon
A family of friends
Adventure ending soon
We'd been on the road for close to ten days
Mozambique, Jozi, Pretoria ways
Yeah we seen a lot of things
Almost lost Jess
Ran into the ocean
Didn't swallow us yet
We held each other through times of trouble
With each one of you
My happiness doubles
And even in these times of dispare
I will hold hold my homies near
Even in these times of dispare
I will hold hold
My homies near
So let's sing this song for our fallen homies
Drink and dance
No need to be lonely
We got each other gonna be okay
But let's drink to our fallen homies today
Back over the border
We got some news
George was gone
We'll be seeing him soon
On the other side
On the other side
But how many of my friends are you gonna take
You gonna take em all make no mistake
But I'll laugh at that
And I'll laugh with you
Coz what else are we gonna do
What else are we gonna do
We gonna sing this song for our fallen homies
Drink and dance
No need to be lonely
We got each other
Gonna be okay
So let's drink to our fallen homies today
